10 Glowing Hairstyles for the Summer: Black Girl Edition
Summer is here! So that means it’s time to adjust to the season (if you know what I mean). It’s time for new beginnings, and changing your hairstyle is one way of doing it. Here are 10 hairstyles for the summer for black girls. I have a Pinterest board with literally thousands of hairstyles for black women that I’ve been hoarding since middle school. With that said, I have decided to use my talent of hours of scrolling on Pinterest to give you lovely ladies some new hairstyles for this summer.
I’ve taken the heat, trends, and styles that I think are really cool into consideration, so here are 10 hairstyles I think you should try this summer. Be different!
10 Hairstyles for the Summer:
1. Dolly Braids
Yeah, this is my number one pick right off the bat. It’s cute, light, and different. The creators of this look (pictured above) really did their thing. That being said, they are the creators, so you’d have to go to them to get this look, and there is no tutorial available. Kudos to the creators for being in their bag. Seriously, I heard they were receiving a lot of backlash for not releasing a tutorial, which is actually wild.
But there is good news! The creators graciously sell a product list of everything used to create this look. So, if you buy the product list, then you basically have the pink-print. You just have to put it together and execute it yourself. It’s a nice little DIY project.
2. Star Braids
I love these braids! I’m not completely sure who the creator is, but if you show this photo to your braider, I’m sure they can make it happen. I would love to try these, but I’m incredibly tender-headed and I have locs. I think this look is different, and the beads are the perfect touch.
3. Heart Buns
Natural hair beauties, did you think I’d forget about you?! I could never. This look is sleek and simple. That’s why I love it, and it pops.
4. Layered Braids
The Layered Braids are a chef’s kiss! To put it simply.
5. Bubble Braids
Bubble Braids are beautiful and bold. If you want some volume this summer, I’d definitely try these. Plus, the Marley hair is super light, so it’s good for the heat.
6. The Afro
The never-forgotten Afro. It’s never too late, ladies; our hair stays up for a reason. It’s perfect for the heat. Look at her, she’s glowing in the sun, not burning up
7. Bubble Buns
This is the pin that started it all. I have always wanted to try this style; it gives me Spider-Punk vibes.
8. Headwraps
I wouldn’t go as far as to say that this is a new or different style, but it still rocks. Headwraps are versatile and keep your hair off your shoulders. Plus, the different colors and styles you can create are almost endless. I might just write a post on all the different styles you can do with one headwrap.
9. Faux Locs
Do y’all remember in Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! when something crazy would happen, and that random kid would come out and say ‘that’s kooky!’? That phrase is what I think of when I see this style. In a good way!
10. Braided Pigtails
So cute! If you’re on a budget and need a quick but cute style, I recommend this one 100%. It’s easy enough to do yourself, and there are tons of tutorials online so you don’t have to break the bank. Make them unique with cute jewelry or beads!
Ciao, Ciao!
